Competition effort to design a new accessible and functional street furniture. Our R.E.S.T. proposal is a modular seating and shelter system that highlights rainwater harvesting in public spaces, built to support greenery and the process of evapotranspiration, providing a cooling effect for individual users and city overall. With options that can be aggregated to benefit a range of communal experience. Each module contains an overhead planter absorbing storm-water, which flows through hollow acrylic supports into collection tanks underground. Rainwater harvesting has the potential to provide New York City with 71% of its non-potable water needs, greatly reducing the financial and environmental burden of the city’s municipal water supply.[1] R.E.S.T. is seating and shelter
