Iterative model building and material testing, exploring the potential to generate new ideas of community, stair, and service core on Governors Island. Produced three staircase concepts with simple forms, multiple functions, and an interest in improving the accessibility of the staircase for differently-abled bodies as well as different species. Explored bio-receptive materials and texturization for micro-habitats, varying scales of porosity for micro and macro organisms to colonize. Encouraged entropy and considered how something could increase with value over time through the wearing away of layers, an object progressively revealing latent beauty.
