Speculative studio that studied Christopher Bollas’ psychological principle of the “unthought known” in relation to the contemporary urban issue of generating and disposing of waste. Researched and combined the programs of a waste-to-energy recycling center with a public swimming and fitness facility. Our site was an out of commission power station on the waterfront of Dumbo, Brooklyn. My partner and I focused on the concept of visualizing heat transfer and explored properties of thermodynamics and thermochromism. Consulting with technical professors, we brought the project from a schematic design to detail drawings.
